CBSA cuts through the clutter with social media infographics

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, here at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), we recently learned that a picture is also worth a lot of retweets and shares. As part of our Agency plan to support "digital first" communications and get our message out to even more Canadians and cross-border travellers, our social media team started to use infographics and images as part of our regular tweets and Facebook posts. The use of infographics cuts through the clutter of information that is found on social media.

We are also producing graphics in house. Not only does this give our communications advisors the opportunity to get their creative juices flowing, but it's also a fun, popular way to get our message across to our audience by joining in the discussion and using trending hashtags. Our social media followers are sharing our messages with their followers and learning about border procedures, our CanBorder app or travel tips. Creativity is paying off – our International Women's Day post was one of our most successful ever, and we're receiving more positive comments and shares of our content than before.
